Description

Pinus palustrus

The long leaf pine is a southern staple, native to Florida and seen throughout the state.


Water Requirements: Low water needs, highly drought tolerant.

Soil: Sandy, acidic, dry soils that are well-draining.

Growth Rate: Slow for the first 7 years, then very fast.

Bloom Time: Cones year-round

Temperature: Heat and cold hardy.

Pruning: Not needed.

Tips: When planting, avoid harming the large root of the Long Leaf Pine.
