Native to swampy areas, the Swamp Chestnut is a great tree for wetter sections of a landscape.

Water Requirements: Moderate water needs. Flood tolerant and tolerant of soggy soil conditions.

Soil: Prefers acidic soil, but will tolerate any soil type.

Growth Rate: Moderate

Temperature: Heat and cold hardy. Drops leaves in winter.

Pruning: Not needed.

Tips: The Swamp Chestnut is a very valuable tree to many butterfly and moth species.
