Water Requirements: Moderate. Flood tolerant, so good for soggy conditions. Once established, can be moderately drought tolerant.

Soil: Acidic, well-draining soils of varying compositions.

Growth Rate: Slow to moderate.

Temperature: Cold and heat tolerant. Drops leaves in wintertime.

Pruning: Generally not necessary.

Tips: The Overcup Oak is named for its acorns, whose hat or “cup” covers over nearly the entire acorn!
